The Brief

Rugbytots have an animated character, Arty, that they use in their marketing. They wanted to bring this character to life through 2D animation to use on social media for future marketing efforts.

The Challenge

Rugbytots is open to all children and Arty is a well-loved character, so it was important to pick a voiceover artist whose voice was gender neutral so all children could relate to the new animation.

We needed to introduce animated Arty simply at first before featuring the character in a longer animation. Our animation team started with simple gifs for social media before creating a larger animation to present Rugbytots’ new shirts, which are made from recycled bottles.

Presenting the new shirts through Arty’s eyes allowed us to take a fantastical approach to the manufacturing process, presenting an important message in a simple enough way for children to understand.

The Outcome

The reception to the Arty gifs has been incredibly positive. Using animated Arty for future marketing efforts also allows Rugbytots to cover lots of different topics as Arty journeys to different places and meets new people.
